Cochrans and Atwoods Ascenath "Cenia" (Peyton) Cochran Cenia was mother of Nancy Alice Isabella "Bell"; maternal grandmother of Haley (Atwood) Miller and my great-great-grandmother. She married Brice Cochran in 1859. She is buried in Wilson Ridge Cemetery in Casey County, Kentucky. Other children of Cenia & Brice Cochran were: Sophronia, Mary E., Sarah A., Loranzo Dow, Lucy C., Permelia "Mealey" and Mariah E. Cochran. Nathan Green Atwood Nathan was the father of Haley (Atwood) Miller and my maternal great-grandfather. He died in Telephone, Fannin County, Texas and is buried in Forest Grove Cemetery near Telephone. So far, we have not yet found Bell's grave. It is believed that she is buried in Jumbo Cemetery, Jumbo, Oklahoma. Other children of Bell & Nathan Atwood were: John Wesley, Mary Elizabeth, Amelia Ellen "Melie", James Brice and Jesse Edgar "Edd" Atwood. Will & Haley (Atwood) Miller Will & Haley were my maternal grandparents. Will was born in Ozark, Arkansas. Haley was born in Casey County, Kentucky, her family came to Lamar County about 1903. They crossed Red River at Garrett's Bluff and settled there for a time. They moved around alot in Lamar and Fannin Counties as well as southeast Oklahoma. They were probably following job prospects. Haley's uncle and aunt, Loranzo Dow & Betty George (Chelf) Cochran settled in Oklahoma and operated a sawmill. Children of Will & Haley were: Jessie Beatrice (my mother), Ruby Isabella, Lillie Ellen, William Brice, Florence Della and Eugene Nathan Miller. Oakle Dow & Hazel Verbah (Kerr) Cochran Oakle Dow was the son of Loranzo Dow & Bettie George (Chelf) Cochran. Other children of Dow & Bettie were: Althea Marie, Cornelia E., Ora Elah, John James "Jamie", Estie Irene and Peroy Brice "Roy" Cochran. Children of Oakle Dow & Hazel Cochran are: Bettie Anne and Helen Frances Cochran. Jumbo Church & Cemetery Jumbo is a small community in Pushmataha Co., Ok. |
